Vagrant Sea has returned to
Newfoundland (2002) after five years down south. We were on board for a year
full-time in 97-98; since then we spent a couple of months on board each
winter, and worked the rest of the year. We're enjoying cruising in home
waters again. Jim is
teaching sailing and doing boat-brokering, while my day job takes me
away from the ocean. This is a recipe that is easy to make on board, and a
handy dessert if your boat doesn't have an oven. When you sail in late
August or in September in Newfoundland, blueberries are easy to come by. The
name is thought to refer to the sound made as the steam from the boiling
berries raises the lid on the pot. See also: Goin' Down the Ditch - Myths of the IntraCoastal and other articles by Bonnie and Jim on our Author's Page Bonnie
