The launch of our
TRANSATLANTIC CROSSING video was a huge success and we want to thank you all for your support. We've sold out twice since January so have restocked and will continue our Special Offer through the Web - order now, pay later; we cover the tax and shipping. Same offer applies to our other videos and books.
The official Canadian release of "Transatlantic Crossing" was held on January 15 at the
Canadian Yachting booth at the Toronto International Boat Show. Paul and I have been regular contributors to Canadian Yachting magazine since 1992. Check out our "Cruising Notebook" column, which is a regular feature in CY. It was great to meet readers in person at the show and to hear their sailing stories. Here
(above) we pose with Mike Unger, CY Publisher; and John Kerr Sr., President of Kerrwil Publications, owner of CY. In front are John's kids, Julie and John Jr., who worked at the booth renewing subscriptions and introducing the magazine to new readers.

"Let's see, the rabbit comes out of

On the second Saturday of the Toronto Boat Show, we were guests at two booths: "The Store" Mason's Chandlery
, and The Nautical Mind Marine Booksellers and Chart Agents where we autographed our books and videos for their customers. They held a contest at the booth to see if anyone could tie a bowline faster than Paul. (Paul won a prize at the Annapolis Boat Show a few years ago for tying a bowline in under 2 seconds). Dorothy
LeBaron, owner of Nautical Mind, baked up a batch of her famous chocolate chip cookies for the winners. But only 2 people could tie a bowline faster than Paul and in both cases their knots were not true bowlines - but we gave everyone a cookie anyway! The event became known as the Chocolate Chip Challenge and Dorothy's husband, Ross Wilson, timed the contestants. |

| After the snow and freezing temperatures of the Toronto Show, we looked forward to the official U.S. release of our "Transatlantic Crossing" video at the Miami Boat Show in Florida on February 19. We were guests at the
Seven Seas Cruising Association
booth where we talked to show attendees about our cruising experiences. SSCA had enlarged the photo of our boat
Two-Step - our favourite one of her at anchor in the Bahamas which we used on the cover of our book Sail Away! - and it was the first thing you saw when you walked in. It made us feel very much at home. |

As well as attending boat shows, Paul and I, once again conducted a series of seminars for various boating associations and participated in forums on cruising. To date, 16,000 people have attended our presentations across North America. It's a lot of fun for us and a great way to exchange ideas and learn about the information sailors and travellers are seeking. |

| We do about 30 presentations each winter and are now booking for the year 2001. If you are looking for speakers for an upcoming event, please contact us. We charge a nominal speakers fee plus travel expenses (airfare,
accommodation, etc.) and have excellent references. Our presentations have been successful fundraisers for many organizations. We'd love to entertain and inform your group! Let's see what we can organize.
