Judy I are still working furiously to get Veleda ready. We have had her out only once so far and found many other small details not working properly. For example the luff line in our new used genoa was too small and pulled out of the track. The self steering is still not working reliably. We have made a phone call to California and ordered a new compass unit for the fluxgate compass binnacle. There are shorts in the compass light, the steaming light, the depth sounder, the knot log, and the wind direction indicator. The start battery needs to be replaced. The main sheets need to be replaced. A few details such as these were identified on our first check out cruise. We still have not mounted our wind generator as we are waiting for the proper wire. Two stanchion bases have not come in yet. We need to fit a gauge and solenoid switch on our propane tank, which was empty. - And so on! We should still be able to make our departure date of July 3, 1998, but it may be close.
